I don't have any proof, but for a few years I have suspected the dental industry of keeping a detrimental secret from its patients/clients.
What I'm talking about are oral x-rays. My very first visit to the dentist (along with many of my peers) was when I was 5-years-old. That's when my family dentist suggested that I have an x-ray done of my mouth, despite my baby teeth being cavity free and straight. Curiously, as soon as my baby teeth began to fall out and my new teeth continued to grow in was when problems involving my mouth started to occur. My brother and sister's teeth were also experiencing a similar situation. Was it all due to genetics? Perhaps my x-ray concerns are completely unwarranted. Years later, I began to ask around.
It turns out that those of my friends who grew up with a rural background never visited the dentist once, until all their adult teeth had established themselves as teenagers. Interestingly enough, their teeth were absolutely fine. In fact, near perfect. Is this all a coincidence?
Is subjecting young, yet to develop bicuspids to x-ray radiation really healthy? I strongly suspect that it isn't. If and when I ever become a parent, I personally would not require any of my children to see a dentist until I deemed that it was absolutely necessary to do so. A decision, I suspect, they'll later come to be grateful for.
